Seven Key Steps Excercise

1.) Weakness, Need  and  Desire

Weakness

Lucas cannot head the advice of those he does not respect.

Need

Lucas needs to survive in the world by himself and discover how fortunate his life actually was. He also needs to learn honor and value in a corrupted world.

Desire

Lucas wants to live like the “upper-half” and discover the virtual world that he and other lower-class citizens have only heard rumors of.

2.) 5-7 Plot Events That Could Happen

– Lucas is encouraged to steal for the thieves and eventually has a choice to make (steal from citizens or face the bandits wrath).

– On one of the thieve’s “runs”, Lucas has a chance to enter the virtual network generally reserved for high-class citizens.

– Lucas explores the virtual world, but decides it’s not for him.

– Lucas falls in love with someone in the virtual world.

– His friends/family are not here and he find no interest in this world without them.

– Lucas becomes infatuated with the virtual world and never leaves again.

– Maybe he is removed by force?

– Lucas is presented with a choice to make, return to his grandmother or remain with the thieves, forever putting his childhood behind him.

– Lucas becomes friends with another thief of similar age, but after a disagreement the two become enemies.

– One night, the thieves test Lucas by insisting he steal from a home that ends up being his grandmothers.

– Lucas travels to find his parents.

Notes:

Hoe does he change both worlds???

– group that wants to bring access to both worlds for everyone

Environment forces character to evolve?

Research embodiment/ environment / earth

– the body never lies

What happens when we are out/in of our bodies?

Women leave the high-class VR world to give birth?

3.) Opponent

Lucas’s opponent is Ava Shaw (see Personal Project for a description). Ava is a young girl about the same age as Lucas. Ava also wants to fundamentally shift the current social paradigms that govern the city, although her vision is much different than the protagonists. Ava desires to swap the roles of upper and lower citizens. Whether she is successful or not, she needs to make peace with her anger towards Earth Two and the people who use it. She is often blinded by her rage and cannot for see the consequences of her actions.

4.) Plan

Lucas plans to travel and survive as one of the Thieves members until one of their “runs” enables him to enter Earth Two.

5.) Battle

(still not sure)

– Maybe pro/ant discover the “heart” of Earth Two (enabling both of their goals) but they have to physically fight for control of it.

– Maybe Ava and Lucas fight for dominance in the Thieves in order to eventually determine what new goal the group will concentrate on.

– Maybe Ava and Lucas both think that swapping the social roles is a good thing, until Lucas enters Earth Two and realizes it is just as much a prison as Earth One. Then, Ava still wants to swap the social classes while Lucas does not and both parties struggle for dominance.

6.) Self-Revelation

Lucas will (at some point) realize that he prefers the real world more than Earth Two, a  fact he once thought impossible.

7.) New Equilibrium

The new equilibrium will merge the benefits of both worlds and bring the benefits to every man, women and child who wishes to receive them. Despite Ava’s wishes, no group will be lesser.
