Tell a story about a time you got yourself out of a sticky situation.

We were all 16 at the time, out in Bermuda for a vacation. At this age we were trying to pull away from our parents as much as possible. But to be honest we were stupid, and needed the guidance. We surely thought otherwise and landed ourselves in some trouble.

We met some girls on the beach the day before, they were all from Canada. Of course my buddy Delvecchio wanted to meet up with them so we decided to sneak out late one night and meet them at a bar. We were told that the last thing we were suppose to do was leave the resort we were on. So we did just opposite and went into the village at around 1:30 am.

When we finally reached the village there wasn’t a problem at all and we seemed to be greeted anywhere we wanted. When we reached the place where we were suppose to meet the girls it was a sigh of relief. Our new friends were just as excited to see us as we were. The night was flying by and no problem seemed to be insight. Until my friend Timmy got a call from his mother. Over and over she called. I tried calming him down so we outside to talk to her behind the bar. Our parents were pretty strict with the no town at night business, but we were hoping for some leniency.

We talked to the parents for a brief moment, but our other two friends got concerned and they decided to see what was going on. This was when we were all approached by 6-8 locals. One of them immediately threw Timmy up against a car taking his phone. All of them demanded money. At this point we were all at stage five panic mode. The night grew longer and longer and none of us had any cash on us. There wasn’t much we could do and there didn’t seem to be any help around. I glanced in the bar and it seemed our lady counterparts had left the bar. We were alone.

My friend John is a smaller but has a hard time keeping his thoughts to himself. So naturally he starts going off on all of these guys, running his mouth and speaking his mind. This gets us no where. One of the outsiders goes into the bar, then two follow him, I could see them on the phone. Numbers were then even and we knew this was our chance. Before we knew it, John the mighty of us all threw a punch straight to one of their faces, and we all took off. We ran as fast as we could and somehow got away. Talk about a close call.

The story begin for me in the last 2 paragraphs. Maybe you can get to it faster, then add the background details in an as-need-to-know basis?

then give more details of the panic scene–SHOW the panic, give tense dialogue moment, risky gestures, etc. maybe a bit less on moral…as it comes through in the story.

Do you have an image you can also add to post? if so, it will also show up in individual post.
