1. Weakness and Need

– Tom’s weakness include mother nature and his sons health as that is the most important thing to him. His need is to survive, if not himself, to save his son

– His other weaknesses are lack of food, water, and shelter, and their overall safety

2. Desire

– Tom Hunter the main character and father of the boy in the story desires nothing more than his son making it out alive.

– If it means he would lose his own life to get to civilization in order for his son to be saved he would do it. Theres no length he wouldn’t go

3. Opponent

– The opponent in the story is mother nature, her wrath and bitter cold and wind is what is slowly breaking apart and killing Tom and his son.

4. Plan

– Tom is faced with constant issues as his son at the the age of 11 years old can only do so much for the both of them.

– He is first faced with a shelter as getting out of the wind is extremely important

– No food and no water, and eating snow will bring down your body temperature

– As the days go by, there is no sign of any positive changes or of any civilization, which brings Tom to the conclusion to make life threatening moves for his son

5. Battle

– Both the main characters have multiple battles to face with their own bodies and the withdrawal of food and water, and the battle of surviving with each other and getting each other out alive.

6. Self-revelation

– Tom has a revelation when he realizes if he doesn’t make moves to find people both him and his son will die slow deaths, at least if he tries to go he can say he died fighting for his son.

7. New Equilibrium
