{"id":629,"date":"2014-02-04T14:09:37","date_gmt":"2014-02-04T19:09:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/443.nmdprojects.net\/blog\/?p=629"},"modified":"2014-02-06T14:19:40","modified_gmt":"2014-02-06T19:19:40","slug":"beauman_storysample","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/443.nmdprojects.net\/blog\/beauman_storysample\/","title":{"rendered":"Beauman_StorySample (edited)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2014Intro scene\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Norman Nuss had not always led a life controlled by fear.\u00a0 As a boy,\u00a0 Norman loved to splash around in mud puddles and play \u201cspace ranger\u201d in his tree house and if he saw a grasshopper on the lawn, he\u2019d capture it and put it in a jar, watching it for hours before letting it go.\u00a0 His mother worked as a school nurse and frowned upon his activities.\u00a0 \u201cYou\u2019re going to get dirty!\u00a0 You\u2019re going to fall! You\u2019re going to catch a virus!\u201d, she\u2019d always say while his father would just laugh it off and encourage him to explore.\u00a0 Norman looked up to his father.\u00a0 The man was always traveling around the world, but always brought home a little trinket for Norman. \u201cSomeday I\u2019m going to show you the world, Norman.\u00a0 But for now I need you to be the man of the house and look after your momma.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The night his father was suppose to get back from India, Norman sat in his treehouse, working on a trinket for his dad.\u00a0 Using a nut he\u2019d found, some twine, and scraps from his mother\u2019s old blouse, he made his father a space ranger of his own to play with.\u00a0 When car headlights turned into his driveway, Norman practically hopped out of the tree and ran for his father.\u00a0 But the man who stepped out of the car wasn\u2019t his dad, it was the father of his friend, Michael Beaulier, the sheriff of the town.\u00a0 The sheriff sat Norman and his mom down in the kitchen.\u00a0 It had been stormy out to sea that night, and no one had heard from the plane in hours.<\/p>\n<p>By the time, Norman was adult, he had become a completely different person.\u00a0 To many he seemed like a hard worker and great co-worker, but really he was just cautious.\u00a0 He got up at 4am, showered, shaved, ate breakfast alone, went to the gym to swim for an hour, showered again, went to work,\u00a0 got home at 6, ate dinner alone, showered, and went to bed.\u00a0 Day after day, 364 days a year, Christmases off.\u00a0 When asked to travel for business, he would always decline, volunteering someone else \u2018better suited\u2019 for the trip.\u00a0 And if anyone needed extra work done, Norman would always accept.<\/p>\n<p>This was his life, no children, no wife, no adventure, no dreams.\u00a0 Work, work, work, work, work, until one day, death.\u00a0 His casket sat there on the table for hours.\u00a0 No one came.
