Story Proposal

Description

My story is going to be based on my grandfather and the six other boys who graduated from high school. These seven went straight into WWII both drafted and enlisted. I will focus on the early lives of these boys and probably only focus on three individuals for the full stories.

I had never travelled on boat for such a long distance. I took a train to basic, but that was a much smoother ride than this was. It doesn’t help that I am ill. The doctors have told me it was Malaria but I have no idea what that is. I haven’t moved from my bunk in days and we are only as far as the Panama Canal. I really hope this isn’t what I can expect of my stay in Asia.

Thinking about it, I’ve never seen andAsian person before. I just met some colored folks and they aren’t so bad. Everyone says I’m a ‘Nigger lover’ even though I only just met them.

I wonder what the Philippines is going to be like. They told us that the Japs were crazy bastards that killed and raped women. I can’t wait to stop them from attacking the U.S. ever again.

Format

I want to make a digital journal that incorporates text, interviews (possibly videos), images, and anything else that is relevant to my project.

Audience

Mostly everyone, but younger audiences will have a more difficult time with this if they aren’t interested in the topics of WWII and small town America.
