Story Proposal

I have two ideas for my story this semester. Both of them involve things I can’t control as well as fear. I’m not sure if I want to combine these two stories somehow, keep them as separate short stories, or just do one or the other.

The first is a story about my past, which I may alter to make it a little less personal. But, I could also keep it the way it is and make it more realistic. However, if I choose to do this story, I would be reluctant to share it with the class because it is so personal and something I don’t feel needs to be shared with everyone.

The second story involves a girl who has almost like a sixth sense and is “haunted” by spirits everywhere she goes. They first begin as dreams, but then the experiences become more and more intense as she begins to interact with them in real life. This idea is based on my love of Stephen King novels and my hope to create a good, scary, adrenaline-pumping, horror story.

So, I may begin writing both and then decide the direction in which I want to go with it and which story I will tell. But, in any case, the story will depict a concept of fear and things that are out of a person’s realm of control.

As far as media goes, although I think this format would be good in iBooks, I’m not sure I will have enough access to the technology to create this type of story. I may also consider using a video format, like a movie trailer, in which case the second story would be more fitting.

The age demographic for my idea would definitely be an older group, at least “PG-13” because I intend to make it very scary if possible or at least intense enough to make an impact. In this case, I think I would need to make it directed towards an older demographic in order for the audience to really understand the intensity of what I am trying to portray.
