Characters:

-Lana: age 15
*Keara’s other personality
-Catherine: age 2
-Barb: age 48
-Scott: age 50
-Mr. Smith: age 30
Place: Takes place in Maine, during the end of winter/ beginning of spring
Problem: Keara has split personality disorder. Developed from witnessing the death of her older sister Jamie, who died one year ago while babysitting Keara when she climbed a tree to fetch Keara’s kite, and fell.
Her parents: Do not realize Keara is suffering from this disorder. They think she is just moody and depressed, while trying to deal with her sisters death. They submit her to therapy, and buy her a puppy, Nala.
Teacher: Mr. Smith is her 5th grade teacher who tries to help Keara through her struggles. She reminds him a lot of his younger sister Michelle, who he lost to cancer. Suspicion starts to arise while Keara/Lana, makes it seem like Mr. Smith is being inappropriate.
Catherine: Her two year old niece, who begins to call her Auntie Lala (referring to Lana) because Keara often becomes Lana around Catherine.
lots of potential for conflict and tension that should enable characters to “develop” learn, grow, heal.
I’d like to know if you have a plot line–a set of actions that will create the conditions for character movement & development. I like the moral ambiguity–eg Mr Smith is a helper, but could be seen as dangerous…the tragedy here is poignant
