For this future visions assignment, the plot centers around an aging Japanese Oligarch named Kozumo.

In the near-future, advancements in medicine have extended the lives of humans to an almost unreasonable degree. Kozumo, well over 150 years old, has recently undergone a “miracle” procedure which has essentially given him the body of a far younger man.

As the narrative progress, dystopian elements begin to smear this miraculous future. These procedures, while reliable and safe, are only accessible and affordable by the wealthiest of wealthy individuals. They go to immoral and often illegal lengths to secure these surguries. Kozumo, for example, has had his head surgically transplanted onto the body of a young man, who was most likely killed for his genetic compatibility.

This sheds light on the true face of this post-death society; genetically compatible people are “farmed” for their organs, tissues, and sometimes even entire bodies.

The elite ruling class essentially becomes a cabal of body snatchers, and Kozumo must reconcile with the cognitive dissonance of extending his own life at the direct expense of others.
