NMD 443 Digital Narrative 2 hones your story skills and the digital tools that will allow you to bring them forth and publish them. We will begin with an exploration of current cultural meta-stories, many of which are failing and thus in transition. We will investigate the current emergence of alternative or transition stories, and consider which paradigm will be most relevant for our own stories. Each of you will work on both individual stories and a community story project.
Your stories, and the work you do to build them will be the core of the class. The resources below will structure and support your projects:
- For information about classwork and due dates, see the Schedule page.
- To view fellow student projects, see Stories.
- To get inspired, look at the Resources page.
- To support your skills see Tips.
Class will consist of 1) a personal portfolio of stories and 2) a class project focusing on community stories chosen by the class.
You will meet as a class and in groups to brainstorm, craft, review and refine your work. Focus on story generation, storyboarding, character development, and plot structuring as well as revision strategies will allow each of you to seed an idea and through careful tending to generate full stories.
