Story proposal

A college athlete and her girlfriend have a loving relationship. The athlete is a soccer player and spends most of her time practicing the game while her girlfriend is slowly getting more and more addicted to hard drugs. No matter how much her girlfriend attempts to save her from abusing drugs, she ends up overdosing and trying to drive a car to go visit her. She ends up crashing her car and dying while her girlfriend is practicing soccer.

I want to make this story into a music video, still debating on songs.

Wow–this is a clear & seemingly simple tragedy. I wonder if you might consider both on drugs–the athlete needs the endorphins for the natural high, the friend needs another source. Also I thin go Tove Lo’s song “I’m not on drugs, I’m just in Love” her whole album explores the ways love and drugs feel similar.

So playing on the similarity of natural and artificial highs could be interesting, and could make the story just a bit more edge and complex.

More interesting to me is the love between the girls. Heterosexual romance and family patterns in our culture often supplant this girlfriend love, and that diminished everyone–even the guys who end up with the girls. So showing the threads the link them could be sweet.

I might check out Tove Lo’s album– Queen of the Clouds–for some ideas, esp because of the drug/love references that could easily be parallel to athletics/drugs.

Movie video could be a good lyrical/narrative format.
